COUNTERFEIT BANKNOTES-ISLE OF SKYE
During the past several days a number of counterfeit banknotes have been discovered in circulation throughout the Isle of Skye, particularly in Portree.  Police ask that members of the public, especially shopkeepers and B & B / hotel staff be aware.

A suspicious incident, which may be related, occurred on 24/9/02 within a shop in Portree when a man attempted to exchange a large amount of smaller denomination notes for twenty pound notes.

Any person with information is asked to contact Police at Portree on 01478 612888.
