83rd LATHERON SHOW The Latheron show takes place on the 8th of July 2006 at Occumster courtesy of R & D Gunn West Clyth. The show has broken with tradition this year as we have Maureen Coghill, East Clyth the first female Chairperson Maureen has been is charge of the horses at Latheron show for over 10 years. The entries have 2 weeks to end, we are a bit down on last year so get those entries in although the goats section is up 13.! New for this year is a craft tent with the Caithness craft assoc setting up stalls as well as local produce from over the county. The usual home industries and flower schedules are in the local shops. There will be a display of vintage tractors and implements, organised by Caithness vintage club. Dog show, children sports, tug o war baby show, donkey rides as well as the Caithness junior pipe band. A balloon race is also to take place. A horse shoeing demonstration And sheep sheering The highland dancing competition started last year will all take place during the day. The dancing is organised by the Tanya Horne School all entries for these are taken on the field on show day. Horse jumping against the clock in the main ring in the afternoon has proved very popular and is taking place this year again. The main attraction this year is helicopter rides so bring along the cameras for Arial shots of the Clyth and Lybster area. We have 2 seats coming up and back to Inverness if anyone is interested they can be auctioned. We hope our programme of events will entertain everyone who attends.
