| Alexandra Semenova a famous
Russian folk singer gave a street performance in Market Square,
Wick. Her powerful voice was more than a match for singing outdoors
without a microphone. Backed by traditonal music supplied by a
balalika and accordian they whipped up a great sound. Persuading
reluctant members of the crowd to join in with traditional dances and
songs she gradually got a few people into circles for some of the more
simple steps. Children joined her for several songs in which she
kept the movement of the songs going in the dance. An unusual and entertaining event for Wick on a Saturday morning. |
