Rachael "Retta" Sinclair Shearer
1937 Herring Queen - Wick
From Janis Paterson (nee
McGee) 2 July 2002 Rachael' s attendants were, left to right, Nancy Alexander and Catherine Miller. The queen and her attendants all had links to the herring industry. Rachael's father was the skipper of a boat, Nancy's a boat builder and Catherine's a cooper. Catherine still resides in Wick and is now Mrs Sutherland (my auntie). Among the smaller attendants were Betty Miller, now Mrs Yellop (also my auntie) and Harold Reid, retired chemist. Both still resident in the town. |
