GOLF HIGHLAND BACK IN FULL SWING

Golf Highland is back in full swing as a result of new manager, Fraser Cromarty, taking up his post at the North Highland College in Dornoch.  Fraser has been one of the PGA Golf Professionals based at Inverness Golf Club since 1992. The early part of those years were spent gaining his PGA qualifications and playing in various Tartan tour events throughout Scotland, with his most consistent year being in 1998, when he finished 9th in the Scottish Assistants Order of Merit. During the last couple of years Fraser has devoted far more of his time to teaching golf, which has allowed him to build a good working relationship with many of the golf courses throughout the Highlands.

Golf Highland has recently been successful in its bid for ERDF project funding which will allow the company to expand its activities and develop the various new projects that are now ready for implementation. Two of these projects include a photo library of the 44 courses that are in the Highlands, which can be accessed by everyone for the promotion of the area. Also included is a Golf Breaks brochure, which will allow the visiting golfer to design their own golfing package from the comfort of home.

Provost Duncan Allan, Dornoch, who is Chairman of Golf Highland, welcomed Frasers appointment. He said: "Golf Highland has recently been successful in its bid for ERDF project funding which will allow the company to expand its activities and develop the various new projects that are now ready for implementation. Now that the company is back to full strength and the funding is in place, the future looks very good for golf in the Highlands and we can all look forward to the economic benefits to the area that Golf Highland will help to bring."
