If you want to have a go at finding fossils possibly 380 million years old then this is you chance.  Just go along to the Achanarras Quarry on Sunday.  The quarry  is a very famous fossil site where some of the finest examples of Devonian fish have been found.
Everyone is welcome to come along and try out searching for fossils and you do not need to have tried before.  All you need to do is bring along a hammer, flat ended chisel , eye protection , gloves and strong footwear.

Nigel Trewin of Aberdeen University and Jack Saxon of Thurso who has made many discoveries in the quarry will be there to help identify your finds.

To get to the quarry turn west on the A9 at Mybster crossroads on the B870 towards Westerdale and just less than a mile turn right on a track beside a plantation that leads to the car park.  Walk up the hill that leads to the quarry on Achanarras hill
