2002 Scottish Youth Award
The search is on for individuals or groups of young volunteers who have devoted their time and effort to provide an excellent service or help to improve the opportunities and quality of life of people in their community.

The Award
The Scottish Foresters Youth Award is an annual event established over 30 years ago that publicly celebrates the achievements of young people.  It recognises and rewards these contributions.

The Award is open to individuals or groups of young people, aged 5 to 25, who have made a significant contribution to the community.  This support may have been financial or a service provided, but must have taken place during 2002.  Applications will be assessed locally by a group of judges on the overall quality of the project, originality, commitment, and sustained service and benefits to the community.  Qualifying entries will each receive a certificate and the finalist teams from local and national competitions will each receive cheques on behalf of their nominated charities.

How to Apply
We welcome entries from individuals or organisations such as schools, colleges, faith groups or youth groups from all over Scotland via Application Form (please contact Membership on 0800 990066 or email membership@foresters.co.uk).  The closing date for applications is 20th December 2002 and successful candidates will be informed by 10th January 2003 and invited to attend one of the local events held at Aberdeen, Forfar, Edinburgh or Glasgow.  These will be in the format of a display of the project and an informal discussion with the judges.  Selected projects will go forward to The National Final in Perth, which has been scheduled for 6th April 2003.
