Man Walking Lands End to John O'Groats And Back Again

Bernard Tomkin  formerly a storeman at The Royal Marine Barracks and now retired is walking the route in both directions.  He was almost at John O'Groats on Sunday 6 October.  He is raising money for the Queen's Jubilee charity and has raised £6000 already on his route.  He hopes to make even more on the way back from collecting cans he has left on the route and which he will pick up on the return journey.

He hopes to make a short trip over to Orkney and then start back to Lands End.  He comes from Plymouth and says he is a real "Country Janner"  He says he has a great reception in Scotland with many places offering him food and free beds for the night.  His feet are in great condition as he wears special 1000 mile socks under his ordinary socks and has really good walking boots.  He has not suffered any blisters.
