TWO-WAY CONTEST FOR CAITHNESS BY-ELECTION

Two candidates will contest the election for the vacant Thurso East seat on The
Highland Council on Thursday 29 November.

They are: Thomas Jackson, 15 Upper Burside Avenue, Thurso, Independent; and
Colin Punler 20 Lord Thurso Court, Thurso, Scottish Labour.

Mr Jackson is a former Depute Director of Finance with Caithness District
Council and is currently chairman of Thurso Community Council. Mr Punler is
Communications Manager, UKAEA, Dounreay.

The vacancy arose when long-serving councillor, Falconer Waters, Independent,
resigned from the council due to ill health.
