SKIBO CASTLE OPENS
DOORS TO YOUNG GOLFERS
Young golfers under 18 years old from the Highlands, Islands (including the Western Isles, Orkney and Shetland) and Morayshire, with a golf handicap of 24 and under for boys or 36 and under for girls are entitled to enter, free of charge. Organised by The Highland Council and sponsored by Tullochs plc, the event is endorsed by the North District Golf Association and will draw together the best young golfing talent from the area. Trophies will be awarded in scratch, handicap and, unusually, school team events. The donation of a days play at Skibo was warmly welcomed by The Highland Council and local Councillor Duncan Allan, who has been a prime mover behind getting the competition up and running and has donated a quaich for the best scratch score. Councillor Allan said: "The course will provide an opportunity for local young people to prove their talent where it is unlikely anyone will have had prior opportunity for practice. Young golfers will revel in the opportunity to get to grips with such a challenging course for the first time under competition conditions. They will also get a chance to tread in the footsteps of many rich and famous names that have passed through the Carnegie Club at Skibo Castle." The Highland Council looks forward to a great day of golf. Entry Forms are available from the Council's Golspie offices (tel: 01408 635214) as well as from schools and golf clubs and can also be found on The Highland Councils Website at www.highland.gov.uk under "Whats New". Entry forms must be returned by 14th March. Entry Form pdf file
