New Assistant Chief Constable Appointed For Northern Constabulary
Chief Superintendent Garry Sutherland is to become the next Assistant Chief Constable Designate for Northern Constabulary following a decision by The Northern Joint Police Board on Wednesday 5 February 2003.

Currently serving as Chief Superintendent Head of Operations Northern Constabulary, Garry is married with two children. A native of Caithness Mr Sutherland will take up his position as second in Command in the U.K's largest Police Force area on the Ist March 2003.

Area Commander For Shetland Appointed
Northern Constabulary confirmed that Chief Inspector Andy Cowie is set to become the next Area Commander for Shetland. The new Area Commander will move from his current role as Partnership Development Officer based in the Police Headquarters in Inverness to take up the position in Shetland by April 2003.

The new Chief Inspector is married with three children, commenting on the appointment says "I am looking forward to the challenges of policing in the UK's most Northerly Command Area where I will continue the commitment to community policing."
