The Continental Market is coming to Market Square, Wick, Caithness for a 3 day event starting on Friday 27 August. Traders will be selling food from various different countries including olives, tomatoes, fruit, chocolate, cheese and bread, not forgetting wine and cider. There will also be handbags, pottery and jewellery. Various musical entertainment will be played for the 3 days.

There will be about 30 stalls selling chocolate, cheese, garlic, fruit, veg, waffles, wine, cider, olives, sweets, biscuits, bread, honey, mustard, herbs & spices, soap, handbags, clothing, cookware, jewellery, table decorations, leather goods and plants.

The event is being held as part of the Lower Pulteneytown bicentennial celebrations and to coincide with this there will be musical entertainment, dancers, a barbecue, boat trips and stalls at the harbour on the afternoon of Saturday 28 August.

To help eager shoppers get to Wick from the various places there is buses leaving Inverness at 0800 on Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 picking up at Invergordon, Tain, Dornoch, Golspie, Brora, Helmsdale and various pick up stops in Caithness. Buses will return leaving Safeway, Wick at 1700 and arriving back in Inverness at 1945. People in Orkney can also benefit from the market. Pentland Ferries are leaving St Margaretï¿½s Hope at 1200 on both 28 and 29 August and returning from Gills at 1845. A coach will be available to and from Wick on both days. The ferry will also be operating on Friday 27 but a coach link will not be available. The local stallholders will be there on Saturday 28^th. Guy and Shar Nyhuis from Llandrinio, Powys run the continental market and organise the different stalls from Italy, France, Holland, Germany, Belgium, Austria and various other countries to be at all the different places. The market takes place in Inverness twice a year and is also held in Perth and Edinburgh to name but a few places.

As this event is actually part of the Lower Pulteneytown Bicentennial Celebrations we are holding an event with musical entertainment and various stalls at the Fish Market at the harbour during the afternoon of Saturday 28^th. The stalls will be in aid of the Community Memorial Garden at Bank Row.

A ceildh is to be held at 9.00PM also on Saturday 28^th in the Pipe Band Hall. Wolfwind, David Nicol & Addie Harper, Caithness Handbell Ringers, the Wick Pipe Band and other guests are to participate.
