Surf's Up At Thurso Getting Ready For Competition Time At End Of September 21 September 03

Thurso Surf School Targets New Shop In Thurso
Thurso Surf School has been doing well since opening on 1st March 2003.

The school is run by Andy Bain and  Natalie Palmer who have combined a passion for surfing with a business idea.  They also sell surf equipment including surf boards, wetsuits and accessories.  The reason they are not a proper surf shop yet is because they are still awaiting premises in Thurso.   But anyone interested in surfing can go along and get advice on what gear to get before they book lessons from the school.  With the fantastic summer on Caithness beaches interest has increased.

Andy Bain And Natalie Palmer

Natalie and Andy are currently running the Scottish Surfing Federation registered by Sports Scotland, the SSF which is the governing body for surfing in Scotland for whom which we work closely with the British Surfing Association to try and reform the federation and get it back on its feet back on its feet following a period of stagnation after it collapsed some years ago. The school is BSA (British Surfing Association) approved, which can be seen on the www.britsurf.co.uk website.

Thurso is a mecca for surfers in the September t0 January period.   This time of year there is normally a lot of swell and perfect head high days for surfing many spots around the north coastline, especially Thurso East.
