Caithness Field Club Summer Programme 2005
Wednesday 6 April -
Annual General Meeting at the Brown Trout Hotel Watten - 7.30pm -there will be a small charge for refreshments.

Sunday 17 April
Annual Coach Trip - Lairg. Falls of Shin - members responsible for their own lunch - a pleasant restaurant at Harrods or bring a picnic if you prefer. Leaving Thurso at 9.00am and Wick at 9.30am. To book please phone Marion 01847 892999. Cost £10.

Friday 6 May - Monday 9 May
 The Club Weekend at the Dornoch Hotel. All intending guests have paid a deposit, the remainder will be due early March and members will be sent a reminder. Almost fully booked but check with Marion.

Sunday 22 May
Our contribution to the Walking Festival - walking from Yarrows to Ulbster -leaving Thurso 9.30am and Wick 9.45am. This involves one mile of rough heather and three miles of tracks. Cars will be parked at Yarrows farm (Sign posted). Paul Humphreys to lead - (01847 851 275)

Thursday 9 June
Evening walk starting at Reay Church/old graveyard/cross stone, then Sandside/Pictish stones/cheese press and kiln barn/harbour. Lyn to lead - Leave Wick 6.30pm meeting at Thurso at 7.00pm.to assemble at Reay church car park

Sunday 12 June
A sail Wick - Lybster and back again - One party of 12 to leave Wick Harbour at 1.00pm and the other party to leave Lybster approx. 3.00pm. Cars to be shared -Cost £10. Members only. Booking essential - Phone Marion (892999).

Tuesday 21 June
An evening walk to see the solstice at Cnoc Na Maranaich. Four miles over fairly rough ground. Leave Thurso at 6.45pm and Wick at 7.00pm meeting at Dunbeath Harbour 7.30pm. Leslie Myatt to lead. Phone. 831 437.

Sunday 24 July
Botany at Dunbeath River - Leave Thurso at 9.30am and Wick at 9.45am -meet at the old mill car park Dunbeath at 10.15am. for a fairly rough three mile walk. Ken Butler to lead. Phone 893549

Sunday 14 August
A walk Skinnet to Halkirk - a joint effort from Myra (892179) and Marion (892999). Leave Wick at 9.30am and Thurso at 9.50am. We park at Skinnet Farm on the Halkirk-to-Thurso Road . A fairly easy walk.

Sunday 11 September
A walk for Archaeology Month - Kirkton to Upper Bighouse - a four mile walk on heather tracks. Leave Wick at 9.30am. meeting at Thurso at 10.00am. Leader - Gordon Maclachlan (851 753)

Sunday 9 October
A walk for Archaeology Week - Warehouse Hill/ Garywhin. Leave Thurso at 9.30am and Wick at 9.45am meeting at Whaligoe Steps car park. A fairly rough three miles. Jack Barnaby (892583) or Geoff Leet (896989) will lead.

Sunday 30 October
Salmon spawning at Braemore. Leave Wick and Thurso at 10am. Meeting at the Braemore phone box about 10 45am.

NON-MEMBERS ARE WELCOME - WE MEET AT THE RAILWAY STATION CAR PARKS IN WICK AND THURSO - ARRIVE WITH A PACKED LUNCH WEARING SUITABLE CLOTHES AND FOOTWEAR. NO DOGS PLEASE!! EVERYONE COMES AT THEIR OWN RISK. BEWARE TICKS! TROUSERS SHOULD BE TUCKED INTO SOCKS.
