Elphin Weekend

During the evening of Friday September 21st. a group of members motored to the west coast to spend a weekend in Elphin.

On Saturday a visit was made to the promontory fort of Dun Canna north of Ullapool. Later in the day the party was joined by Dr. T. Robertson, an ex-officer of the Geological Survey, now retired, and living in Ullapool. Dr. Robertson gave a very interesting lecture and, during an outing which followed, explained the geology as seen along, the road between Cnoc An and Ledbeg.

Before returning on the Sunday, visits were made to the broch at Dun an Ruigh Ruadh and the broch and vitrified fort at Dun Lagaidh both south of Ullapool. A visit was also made to the Lael forest.
