One of the treasures of the county is still a home and now a place to relax and take it easy in very comfortable surroundings. The house once owned by the Murray-Threiplands and then by Mr and Mrs Campbell who also run a farm at Thurdistoft. The house has been maintained to a very high standard and has kept the authenticity of earlier times whilst ensuring that modern conveniences are available to a very high standard. The house once controlled estates locally and now sits in 20 acres of grounds with the house being approached by a long driveway lined with trees. The house and surrounding area have a long history that can be traced in parts over two thousand years. A short history has bee written by Innes Miller. The house also comprises two mills with in its ground next to the Thurso river. These are the Dale Mill and the Westerdale Mill with which it is often confused as they lie very near to each other. |
