I was stationed at Leuchars and Wick in the early part of 1943, with 489 Hampden Squadron serving with RAF Coastal Command. We later converted to Beaufighters and moved down to East Anglia and the South coast of England.

We attacked German convoys of ships off the coast of Norway, Holland and France.

I have pleasant memories of Wick where the people were very kind to us at that time. We were quite young and a long way from home! In 1989 we were invited back to Norway to see our graves and memorials scattered down the west coast of Norway.
