I was in the RAF station for about six months. There was a raid on the station when we arrived there.  Quite a lot of the aircraft were damaged.  I never was in the town for it was wintertime and we were not allowed out of camp without a pass.  There were plenty of things to do in the camp.  We had a lot of guard duty nearly every night.  We were issued with bicycles to get around the station on duty.
