17 April 08 Chair of the CNSRP Sir Anthony Cleaver said: �This role is vital to the successful delivery of the regeneration partnership�s action plan. Eann Sinclair brings broad experience both of Caithness and of the challenges ahead. He also brings an understanding of all the stakeholders involved, the ability to co-ordinate all their strengths and the commitment to do it well. I am delighted to be announcing his appointment.� Eann attended Thurso High School and graduated from Glasgow University with a degree in Scottish and English Literature before gaining an MSc in Tourism. Married, with a six year old daughter, Eann is a keen traveller and musician. He joined HIE in 1991. The CNSRP is co-funded by HIE, The Highlands Council, the Scottish Government and the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority. Alasdair Dodds, chief executive of The Highland Council said: �The partnership has already made good headway on its published action plan and our collaborative approach is allowing progress to be made without the hindrance of duplication. I am delighted Eann is joining the partnership at this exciting stage and I very much welcome the expertise he will be bringing to its work.� The Caithness and North Sutherland Regeneration Action Plan has been updated and can be viewed at www.hie.co.uk or at www.caithness.org/regeneration.

15 March 08 The partnership has already published a 50-point action plan specifying a range of projects which it intends to deliver within proposed timescales. The partnership's executive board to be chaired by Sir Anthony, comprises the chief executives of Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) and The Highland Council, the regional director of the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA) and a senior representative of the Scottish Government. The board meets quarterly. Sir Anthony enjoyed a 30-year career with IBM, latterly as its chairman and chief executive. Following his retirement from IBM he became chairman of UKAEA leading the formation and flotation of AEA Technology. As well as chairing numerous other companies and contributing to Government panels, he was chairman of the NDA for a three year term which concluded in July 2007. Sir Anthony said: "I am very much looking forward to contributing to this vital initiative and trust that my experience of the nuclear industry coupled with my previous career in international business will equip me well for the challenges ahead." His appointment marks the end of the work of the Strategy Group chaired by John Thurso MP, for the last two years.

Board, Sandy Cumming, chief executive of HIE said: "We are delighted
that Sir Anthony Cleaver has accepted this post. The partnership has
already made good progress on preparing the way forward and Sir
Anthony's contribution will, without doubt, contribute significantly to
the successful delivery of our agreed action plan." Born in 1938, Sir Anthony graduated from Trinity College, Oxford, in Literae Humaniores in 1962.
About Sir Anthony Cleaver
During his career, Sir Anthony has held an
extensive number of positions as Chairman and Director of a variety of
international and national companies and institutions, including IX
Europe Plc, S Three and Working Links (Employment) Limited, the Medical
Research Council, UK eUniversities Worldwide Limited, General Cable Plc
and The Strategic Partnership Limited, General Accident Plc, Lockheed
Martin UK Limited and Smith & Nephew Plc, the Government's Asia Pacific
Advisers, Trade Partners UK, the Government's Industrial Development
Advisory Board. He has been a member of the British Government Panel on
Sustainable Development, the Committee on Standards in Public Life
(Wicks Committee), the Singapore British Business Council, the British
Overseas Trade Board Sir Anthony is closely involved in the arts. He was Chairman of the Royal College of Music until 2007 and was Deputy Chairman of the English National Opera until November 2000 (Director since 1988) and has also been a Director of the Association for Business Sponsorship of the Arts. Sir Anthony was knighted in 1992.
