HALKIRK GOLDEN JUBILEE GARDEN COMPETITION

One of the events organised by the committee responsible for the Queen’s Golden Jubilee celebrations in Halkirk was a garden competition which was open to anyone residing in the Parish of Halkirk

It had been intended to have the gardens judged 2 - 3 times over the summer, but however, due to a time and weather factor, the gardens were only judged once.

The organisers were a little disappointed that they received less entries than anticipated but that did not detract from the winning entries which were judged under two categories.

Judge Mike Potts from Thurso awarded prizes to the following:

Senior Citizen Garden:

1st equal            David Andrews, Egton, 16 Sinclair Street, Halkirk            

                        Mrs. C. Johnston, 44 Sinclair Street, Halkirk

Family Garden:

1st                    Mrs. P. Crawford, Avondell, George Street, Halkirk

2nd                  Mrs. L. Johnston, 12 Church Street, Halkirk

3rd                   Mr. A. Brotherston, Bridge Street, Halkirk

Winner Overall:  Mrs. P. Crawford, Avondell, George Street, Halkirk.
