Open University Courses
For People On Low Incomes
The OU is offering courses to people on benefits or low incomes in a
move to open up access to part-time higher education. A Scotland
wide drive has been launched to recruit students who may have been
deterred from applying to study at university level in the past because of
the costs involved.
Through the scheme funded by the Scottish Higher Education Funding Council
people will get financial support to cover the full cost of an OU
course. It also includes course fees, the loan of books and even
special rates for a personal computer if required.
The new initiative applies to nearly all the OU's under graduates level
courses and so long as a student remains eligible they will be entitled to
a free place in subsequent years.
