The unusually long spell of warm weather in the summer of 2003 has made it possible for tomato plants to grow wild. The likely source is from sewage outlets as tomato seeds can pass through in good condition. No one is sure how they are managing to grow in the sandy soil in Wick river or on Thurso beach
