Wick Triathlon Club's Junior Triathlon went ahead last
Sunday without any of the weather problems encountered last year. The High
school field was in excellent condition which made the cycle and run
stages more comfortable for all concerned. A total of 102 children from primaries 4,5,6 & 7 and 6 1st & 2nd year High school pupils took part. The organisers are very pleased with the response to the event and this year a limit on the number of teams that each school could enter had to be imposed. PultneyTown Academy were runaway winners in both P4/5 & P6/7 categories taking 1st and 2nd in P4/5 and 1st,2nd & 3rd in P6/7. Wick North were 3rd P4/5 team. Lybster were first P4/5 rural team in 4th place. Although there are trophies for the winning teams the main emphasis is on participation and with this in mind everyone who took part received a tee shirt courtesey once again of UKAEA Dounreay along with support from Murray Anderson carpet fitting specialist. A small army of marshals/helpers are required for the smooth running of the event and the organisers are very grateful to all who turned up to help. Also to the Red Cross and Tina Robinson and Fiona Harper of Highland Council. |
