COUNTERFEIT BANK OF ENGLAND £5 NOTES

On Monday 24th. September, 2001 a number of counterfeit Bank of England £5
notes were passed in the Wick area in Caithness. 

Businesses in the Highlands are warned to be extra vigilant whilst handling any
such notes. 

The serial number on all the notes recovered to date is ED 43 810 492 and all
have faded appearance. 

The public are requested to notify Police of any persons attempting to pass
suspect forged notes.
