NHS Highland Waiting Times Increased - Use Caithness General Says MSP The latest quarterly figures for NHS acute activity trends show that waiting times for inpatients and outpatients appointments are becoming longer in the Highlands There has been an increase of 1694 people on the NHS Highland waiting list since 2000, and the number of people waiting over 6 months has more than doubled from 191 to 404. More money is going into the National Health Service yet more people are on waiting lists and are waiting longer for treatment. Mary Scanlon MSP has said; "Greater utilisation of Caithness General, the Belford and Community Hospitals should be done as well as giving patients the choice of surgery elsewhere in Scotland and in private hospitals. "Early intervention from GP's and allied health professionals including high quality podiatry care could greatly benefit patients." |
