NEW CATTLE BREED ARRIVAL IN CAITHNESS A new cattle breed arrived in Caithness this week, with the birth of two French Bazadaise (pronounced. Baz A Day) cross calves. The calves were born within 24 hours of each other at Achalone, Halkirk under the watchful eyes of Isobel Mackenzie and Alistair Sutherland. The calves were after the Bazadaise AI Bull Polux. The calves weighed in at a healthy 38kg. The Bazadaise is a proven, adaptable hardy
breed, renowned for it�s grass finishing ability, mobility, extended
muscle and ease of calving. Calves are born a pale beige colour, alert and
easy to manage offering good genetics, consistent confirmation and rapid
growth rates (average 100 kgs at 4 months old) |
