Thurso Town Improvements Light Up Thurso Bridge
The wet weather on election night didn't do anything
to dampen the enthusiasm of the Thurso Town Improvements Committee. A
group, comprising of the Committee, Highland Council Street Lighting
Department and invited guests, turned out at the Janet Street Club for a
buffet.
Town Improvements Chairman Eric Drummond, welcomed
everyone before heading out to brave the elements, he said "This is a
dream come true for the committee, a lot of hard and unseen work has
been put in by the members to achieve this event, as well as the work
done by Robert Gunn and the rest of the Street Lighting Department, they
have really done us proud".
"A great deal of thanks must be paid to CASE and the
Highland Council, who generously assisted with the funding for the
project, this shows that the saying there's light at the end of the
tunnel, can become a reality with a bit of hard work"
The switch on was carried out by Robert Gunn of the
lighting department, and everyone was delighted with the result, as the
bridge was painted by the lights.
"I believe that its a great feature for the town,"
Eric said, "It shows that with organisations bonding together, we can
really show of Thurso for what it is, a great town which the spotlight
should be on, and we aint finished yet, there's plenty more up were
sleeve."
