Halkirk Man Found Dead In Thurso River

Northern Constabulary have confirmed a body recovered from a Caithness river is that of a missing pensioner.  James Cormack, 65, of Bridge Street, Halkirk, was reported missing on Sunday. His body was found in Thurso River 11.15am on Monday 20 March.

Police said there appeared to be no suspicious circumstances.

The coastguard and a helicopter from RAF Lossiemouth were involved in the search for Mr Cormack after he failed to return home from a walk.

At 1700 hours on Sunday 19th march 2006, Mr James Cormack (65 years) from Halkirk, Caithness, was reported missing to Thurso Police, following him not returning home from an afternoon walk.

Police are currently carrying out searches of the Halkirk area, assisted by HM Coastguard personnel and a Search and Rescue Sea King Helicopter from RAF Lossiemouth.

Mr Cormack is 5'10" tall, slim build, white hair and was wearing a blue boiler suit.
