VOLUNTEERS GET PLANTING AT DUNNET FOREST
An energetic bunch of volunteers turned Dunnet Forest into a busy work site last Saturday morning. Members of the Caithness Countryside Volunteers (CCV) planted, staked and guarded a range of broadleaf trees in small open areas in the forest.

The event was sponsored by Community Service Volunteers (CSV) Action Earth 2005 (supported by Scottish Natural Heritage) and led by Jon Hollingdale from the Dunnet Forestry Trust.

Marina Swanson, Highland Council Countryside Ranger with the Planning and Development Service and CCV organiser said: "We were delighted with the great turn out on Saturday and support of the volunteers. I'd like to thank the volunteers for their enthusiastic efforts, Jon for leading on the day and CSV for their funding."

The CCV is a small group of individuals who dedicate time to promote and undertake environmental projects throughout Caithness. The group is always looking to recruit new members. Anyone wishing to find out more about the work of the CCV, please contact Marina Swanson on 01955 607758 or e-mail marina.swanson@highland.gov.uk
