Duke Of Edinburgh Award Show Trailer
At Dounreay
The Duke of Edinburgh's Award Show Trailer, which was generously supported
by TNT recently visited the Dounreay site, with the aim to encourage young
employees working with UKAEA and Contractors to take up the challenge of
participating in the Duke of Edinburgh's Award.
Brian Lavery, Award Officer, Highland
Council and Diane Gibson, Development Officer for the Duke of Edinburgh's
Award Highland Award Project were on hand to speak to staff about the
award. Billy Husband has agreed to take on the job of Unit leader in an
effort to persuade the UKAEA and contractors to use the Duke of
Edinburgh's Award as a tool for their employees on the site.
Ken Nicol of RWE Nukem brought along a
selection of kayaks from the Pentland Canoe Club, while David Mowat
assisted with the climbing wall which is attached to the trailer, and
persuaded visitors to the showtrailer to have a go. It is the second
visit to Caithness for the showtrailer, over 10 years ago it made a tour
around various towns in the Highlands. The showtrailer is based in
Northern England although it travels extensively around the country
attending events. Pictured here are some of the visitors at the trailer. |
