SCRABSTER WORK WILL ALLOW HAMNAVOE TO ENTER SERVICE
18 March 03
Work is due to begin soon on the existing pier at Scrabster
which will allow NorthLink to bring MV Hamnavoe into service on the
Pentland Firth route.
NorthLink
have been unable to use Hamnavoe on the route because of problems
experienced by the Scrabster Harbour Trust in constructing a new pier that
will accommodate the vessel.

NorthLink chief executive Bill Davidson
said: We anticipate that MV Hamnavoe will be in use on the route from the
end of April. The Caledonian MacBrayne vessel MV Hebridean Isles has been
utilised as an interim measure.
Use of the old pier is a short-term
solution and will be in operation only until the new pier is ready. A
revised timetable for the Hamnavoe service will be introduced from April
21 and bookings for that date and beyond will take account of the new, and
improved, arrangements. More details will be announced soon as the
construction programme at Scrabster gets under way. |
