Raigmore Research is
Highlighted in National Science Week The local branch of the Institute of Biomedical Science at Raigmore Hospital is participating in National Science Week 8th-17th March 2002. As part of this there will be a display board in the main corridor, Raigmore Hospital, on Tuesday and Wednesday. The display will include looped video presentations as well as posters and information leaflets, illustrating the work of medical laboratories and the staff who work in them. The highlight of the week will be an exhibition and research presentations on Thursday 14th March aimed at healthcare professionals throughout Highland region. Presentations will include a demonstration of new Haematology Analysers, which will provide a significantly improved level of service to patients across the Highlands and Western Isles. The analysers will be used for around 150,000 blood tests per year, some of these samples coming from very long distances. This equipment uses the latest technology, including lasers and fluorescent measuring techniques and will enable an increase in the quality of results and reduce the number of re-tests for patients. |
