Caithness Cub Camp At Olrig 25 June 2003
Last weekend the first ever Caithness Cub Camp was held at Olrig, by Castletown. There were 50 cubs from 1st Dunnet Bay, Reay, 1st Thurso, 2nd Thurso and 1st Wick packs. The cubs were mixed into 4 teams for the activity bases over the weekend.

There were bases on orienteering, pioneering, making shelters and an obstacle course as well as a tug-o-war competition. Late on Friday night, everyone went to the top of Olrig Hill to see the longest day start. And it was a long day, with some of the cubs up at half past four ready for Saturday.

Highlights of the camp were the water fight against the leaders and the camp fire on Saturday night. Certificates for the winning team went to the Panthers. Also awarded were the Badge Work trophy, which went to 2nd Thurso for a competition which was run this term at Cub meetings, and the sports trophy which 1st Dunnet Bay won on Saturday afternoon. It started to rain when the tents were coming down on Sunday but that didn't spoil the weekend. It was the first, but won't be the last Caithness Cub Camp.
