The Type 23 Frigate HMS Sutherland has been in Loch Eriboll, Sutherland and was leaving today to go to Kinlochbervie. It was the first time the Sutherland had been to Sutherland, and wanted to foster better relations with the area it is named after. The ship messes are named after areas in the county (Lairg Durness etc..). Some of the guys from the Durness mess were in Durness on Monday night presenting an anchor. Local councillors, and school groups were getting aboard for a look around. The ship is due to sail to the gulf in June. |
