POLICE WARN BUSINESSES IN HIGHLANDS - Stolen Credit
Cards Businesses in the Highlands are encouraged to be vigilant for persons attempting to purchase high value goods, over the phone, with stolen credit cards. The situation has come to the attention of the Police following an incident in Portree where a male with a Glasgow accent and providing a Glasgow address attempted to purchase high value goods over the telephone by providing six different Visa Credit Card Numbers all of which were rejected by the shopkeeper, having been cancelled by their owners prior to this transaction. A man providing a different name, but the same address and mobile phone number as above successfully obtained a large quantity of alcohol from a company in the Badenoch area by providing stolen credit card details. Should any businesses receive similar calls which
make them suspicious, they are encouraged not to part with any goods and
to report the incident to their local Police Station. |
