Thurso Branch Of Arthritis Care Dissolves As National Groups Problems
Deepen An EGM on 2 December saw the Caithnesss Branch of Arthritis Care Dissolved following a year of probelms at a national level. The meeting in the Royal Hotel Thurso by Arthritis Care Thurso Branch was EGM preceded by a lunch for members. Retiring chairperson Margaret Hammerton said "Following a year of disruption from the highest level of the organisation, it was with great sadness that Arthritis Care was yesterday dissolved after being in existence in Thurso for seventeen years." "We as a branch were called to a meeting by Arthritis Care in February at the Council Chambers Inverness and given a whole lot of proposals and information to take back to our members on which we acted but only to find in the following months that all this had been revoked and all our efforts had been in vain. Therefore, the group felt it would be in their best interest to break away from Arthritis Care." "Arthritis Care would like to thank Niall Smith of the Caithness Voluntary Organisation for his invaluable guidance through this difficult period." A new separate Arthritis group may be formed in Thurso at a later date. |
