Halkirk Tug O War Team At UK Championships
Halkirk Tug O'War team represented Scotland at the UK Outdoor Tug of War Championships at Bearsden, Glasgow on Saturday 20th August. Pulling as Scotland A, the lads came within a point of qualifying for the semi-finals.

The 680kg category also attracted two teams from england and Wales, as well as Northern Ireland and Jersey. A second Scotland team, from East Kilbride, completed the line-up of eight in this weight. Having won the Scottish Championshiup in Striling in July, this was the lads' first appearance at the Britsh Championships. After the weigh in the boys realised they were the lightest teamin the 680kg weighing in at 657kg. However after 14 ends against some expereienced opponents they were 1 pull short of qualification to the semi's.

The team was Michael MacGregor, Willie Budge, Jonnie Campbell, Bruce Swanson Jnr, John Murray, Andrew Swanson, Graeme Gunn and Bryan Sinclair, with coach Bruce Swanson.

The next stage for the team is Cento, in Northern Italy where they will represent Scotland at the European Championships on Saturday 17th September. Sponsorship is currently being sought to help fund the trip.
