POLICE CALLED IN TO ASSIST IN HIGHLANDS & ISLANDS SEARCH
FOR THE NEXT BIG POPSTAR

Northern Constabulary are helping to promote the search for talented singers to participate in the Jumpnshout.com competition. The competition is open to singers aged between 16 - 21 years, all they need to do is to send a tape to Jumpnshout, P.O. Box 11827, Stonehaven AB39 3WU by 30th August.  Or sing down a hotline Tel: 0845 6101820.

Winners will be given the opportunity to perform with some of the U.K's most famous pop bands in the Scotland wide Jumpnshout roadshow and they will have the opportunity to record the backing track for the concert.  Up to 40 singers will be selected from the Highlands and Islands to take part in an audition in Inverness on 4th September 2001. One winner will then be chosen to join other winners from across Scotland on the Jumpnshout roadshow to be held during April 2002.

The lucky winners will have the opportunity to show off their talents on stage during the roadshow with famous UK bands and gain valuable experience working with major record producers. The roadshow includes singing at various venues all over Scotland including Eden Court Theatre, Inverness and the SECC, Glasgow.  Inspector Richard MacAulay, Northern Constabulary Drug & Alcohol Co-ordinator says, "This is a unique opportunity that may provide the vital stepping stone to success for talented youth in the Highlands and Islands. The project has the added benefits of offering an exciting alternative to drug or alcohol misuse
and I urge as many young people to participate as possible."

The Jumpnshout.com project is co-ordinated by the Scottish Drug Enforcement Agency on behalf of the Association of Chief Police Officers in Scotland along with partners in the public and private sector.  Check out the website at www.jumpnshout.com  The closing date for receipt of tapes and for the phone hotline is 30th August 2001.
