Young Stars Could Be Highland High Fliers

The search is on to find two Highland children to star in a new television advert promoting air services in the region.

Highlands and Islands Airports Limited is looking for two youngsters to appear in a TV commercial that will be filmed towards the end of May.

The airport operator and leading Glasgow-based advertising agency Frame Cunningham will be holding auditions at the Inverness Thistle Hotel on Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 May and are inviting children aged between 8 and 12 years to come along if they fancy a shot at small screen fame.

The final advert will be screened on Grampian Television later in the year and also be used for marketing and promotional purposes by the company that operates 10 airports in the Highlands and Islands.

Alex Johnson, commercial and marketing manager at Highlands and Islands Airports said: “We are producing a new advert for a television campaign in the region and want two local young people to star in it. As a company that plays an integral role in the communities it serves we are keen that the stars of the commercial should be from the local area.

“The aim of the campaign is to heighten awareness of the range of destinations that can be reached from our airports and through onward connections. With links from our airports to international hubs like Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Manchester and London there is a host of opportunities for business and leisure travellers in the region.”

Kevin Toner, client services director at Frame Cunningham added: “We are hoping for a good turnout from young people in the area and aren’t necessarily looking for children with previous acting experience. It’s a fantastic opportunity to get involved in the filming and production of a TV commercial and we are confident that we’ll have a hard job ahead of us at the auditions given the wealth of talent in the area.”

Children aged 8 to 12, accompanied by adults, are invited to register for the auditions between 10am and 12 noon on Saturday 10 May at the Inverness Thistle Hotel on Milburn Road. Casting auditions will take place between noon and 5pm on Saturday with successful finalists called back for a second round on Sunday afternoon.

Aspiring actors requiring further information should contact Lorraine Hopkins at Highlands and Islands Airports on 01667 462445.

Marketing executive Lorraine Hopkins will be available for photographs with sample story boards for the advertising campaign on Tuesday 29 April at Highlands and Islands Airports’ head office at Inverness Airport. She will also be available for broadcast interviews. She can be contacted on 01667 462445
