About 4.00pm on Monday evening volunteers digging the foundations for a new flagpole at land behind Assembly Rooms, Wick dug up a large amount of World War Two munitions. A bomb disposal team was contacted and attended on Tuesday morning to remove and safely dispose of the items at an undislcosed site in Caithness. The Assembly Rooms were closed on Monday evening causing the cancellation of meetings and activities for safety reasons. Police remain at the site until it is deemed to be safe.
