The children love going horse-riding and it develops their confidence and self esteem as well as physical development such as balance and muscle tone. A lot of volunteer support is required for this activity as each child has an adult on either side of them, with another adult leading the pony. The centre at Halkirk was set up over 20 years ago and some of the original volunteers are still there helping out. Accepting the award on behalf of the group – Maggie MacLean, Liz Hewitson, Christine More, Moira Stephen, Agnes Innes, Christy Cameron, Alex Henderson and Helen Harper.
