Council and Enterprise Company Help Fund Dunnet Forest Car Park Improvements

Highland Councillors representing the Caithness Wards recently agreed to give 7500 (2500 from each ward)  to help Dunnet Forestry Trust resurface their car park that was in a very poor state.  Highlands and Islands Enterprise Caithness and Sutherland 5000 towards the project.

Caithness councillors at their last meeting agreed that the Dunnet forest was used by people from across the county and therefor all wards would contribute towards the upgrade.

Dunnet Forestry Trust is delighted to get this level of financial support which reflects the growing popularity of the forest. The Trust is funding the balance from proceeds from the very popular log sales.

Work will start on Monday 3rd March and will take about three weeks to complete.

Car Park Closed For Three Weeks
During this period, the car park will be closed and there will be no access to the forest for pedestrians from the car park.  Walkers are asked to use the alternative car parking at the beach car park. "We are sorry for any inconvenience, but it is necessary in the interest of public safety, and we are sure you will appreciate the improvements once complete."

The work will be carried out by Holt Drainage from Scrabster. There will be some plant and vehicle traffic at the industrial entrance to the forest, but it will be supervised to ensure public safety. Please be vigilant and obey any instructions from the people who will be there to ensure your safety.
