Aberdeen And Northern Marts
Christmas Sale 11 December2002

Caithness Livestock Centre - Aberdeen and Northern Marts sold 93 cattle and 1729 sheep at their Christmas show and sale at Quoybrae.

The cattle show sponsored by Johnston Carmichael, chartered accountants was judged by Mr Bill Cameron, Kepak, Buchan.  He placed as champion in the young farmers section a Charolais bullock scaling 625 kg from Gary Oag, Achiebeg, Forss it realised £1000 to Scotch Premier Meats on behalf of Robert Rawlings, Devon House, High Street, Cranleigh, Surrey.

Champion in the open section was a home-bred Limousin bullock scaling 630kg from R MacKay, Clyth Mains, Lybster and sold for £1700 to Mr Murray Lamont, MacKay’s Hotel, Wick.

Reserve champion in the young farmers section was a 445 kg Limousin heifer from Gary Oag and made 145 p per kg grossing £645.25 .

Reserve champion in the open section was a 545 kg Limousin heifer from A and W Campbell, No 5 West Murkle, Thurso and made 140 p per kg grossing £763 to Kepak, Buchan.

The sheep section sponsored by Jasmine Gunn was judged by Mr Raymond Wight, Scotch Premier Meats, Inverurie and he selected as champion a pen of three 43.3 kg Texel crosses from S & K Sutherland, Sibmister, Castletown and sold for £100 to the judge on behalf of Robert Rawlings.

The reserve champion pen also from Sibmister were three 49kg Texel crosses and sold for £60 to Scotch Premier Meats.
