Band Of The Year Award Goes To Shogun
The committee of the Northern Nashville
Country Music Club recently presented the Orkney based band "Shogun" with
the "Band of the Year Award" on behalf of the club members and guests at
their show held in the Royal British Legion, Thurso.
Shogun had previously won the "N.N.C.M.C
Scottish Band of the Year" in 2002, however this time by an overwhelming
majority they won the overall award competing against artistes from
America, Europe and Ireland. This is the first time in the clubs seventeen
year history that a Scottish band has been given this honour or that any
band as won an award twice.
Shogun were very surprised and absolutely delighted with the accolade.
They then went on to entertain the large crowd for the remainder of the
evening with their tremendous diversity of material which has been
developed through the years by playing to audiences of mixed ages and
cultures.
The committee are delighted to be able to present Shogun once again along
with other country music greats from America, Norway, Ireland and the U.K.
at their festival being held over the Easter weekend at the Indoor Riding
School, Halkirk.
