A Message to the
electors of Caithness, Sutherland and Easter Ross I came to Dornoch and Ospisdale in 1942 and have been coming ever since. Two years ago I stood for the Edinburgh Parliament. I had hoped to be Minister of Education or Minister of tourism. Canvassing again, I note that the key issues are farming, the village doctor, jobs, the environment and Europe. I will address all these issues with vigour, idealism and common sense. Our people in the North are outstanding and they need ALL our support now. Also our young people must be equipped with tip top skills for local, national and international service. my experience - RAF - Australia - Germany and at Cuddesdon college under Dr Runcie, remind me that standards are central to my campaign. Standards of decency, excellence, quality and discipline are vital. Still standing does not mean standing still. Example is not the main thing in influencing others; it is the only thing. Moreover whoever is spared personal pain must feel himself called in diminishing the pain of others. The farmers have a central place in this constituency's economy. My father and grandfather were respected farmers in Ireland and I have friends in the Sutherland farming community. Farmers will always receive my unwavering support at Westminster, especially at this critical juncture. Britain's and Scotland's farmers in war and peace, always responded immediately to national demands. We must support them now. I call on all to respond to my call - it is time for a change in the North. the central issues are green issues: as long as we are growing we are green. come. let us go forward together. Together, let us build Scotland's tomorrow, today My message to the electors of Caithness, Sutherland and Easter Ross is one of hope, optimism and vision. I stand for freedom of speech, freedom from fear, freedom from want and the freedom of the right to worship. Small scattered communities like ours, especially Sutherland and Caithness, need a vibrant community life where good neighbourliness thrives and is encouraged. People in the north are fed up with Ha-Ha, Bla-Bla-Bla, Cha-Cha-Cha -all promises - no delivery! I am campaigning because the Independent voice must be heard. my job at Westminster is to work in partnership with local communities throughout this vast constituency to DELIVER for the North.
