Church Of Scotland Photo Competition 2005

Could you be "in the frame" for Kirk Photographer of the Year?
Church of Scotland in world-wide call to amateur photographers Could you be "in the frame" for Kirk Photographer of the Year? The Church of Scotland is looking for a winner in its Photographer of the Year competition. Could it be you?

Capitalising on the success of the first-ever Photographer of the Year award, which was held last year, the Kirk is now looking for entries for the 2005 competition.

Last time around, hundreds of entries were received from throughout the world. Lynsae Tulloch, the Church's website editor, is hoping for an even bigger response this year. "Entries need not be of church buildings, but can be photographs representing the work and mission of the church in practice. We want to hear from amateur photographers from Scotland, Europe and beyond. Wherever you are, we want to see photographs that represent what your church means to you and to your community"

Lynsae continued: "I expect the Kirk website to receive 2 million hits in 2005. We are currently in the process of redesigning the site, and the winner of this year's competition will have their photograph used on the front page of our new site when it is launched early next year."

The competition is being run on the Kirk's highly commended website      ( www.churchofscotland.org.uk ). As part of the initiative, surfers will be able to vote for their favourite image once the online-voting process begins in January. As well as having their work feature prominently on the revamped Church of Scotland site, the winner will also receive a beautiful hand-crafted photo album.  The closing date for entries to the competition in Friday 30 December. Voting will begin online in early January 2006. The Church of Scotland website was established more than five years ago and provides an essential gateway for information about the Church, including online worship material, contact details for ministers and parishes online, history of the Church, updates from the Kirk's boards and committees and all the latest news from the Media Relations Unit.

Also on the web site is a colouring competition for children up to 12 years old.  the page to colour in can be down loaded from the web site.  Entries can be submitted in paper or electronic format, but must be received by Friday 16 December 2005.
