Ranger Service In Caithness
Broubster Forest Walk - 6 January 2001 |
|||
The weather stayed fine for the four hour walk. Several folk had not been into Broubster forest before. There are several routes up the hill and round the lochs that can be taken. This time we did not go up to the highest point but still had superb views of the surrounding countryside across Caithness to Morven and Sutherland. At another point views to Dunnet Head were very clear. The snow was still in the process of melting but even with the warmer day it was clear the snow had been very heavy in that area. Birds were scarce - most of them having moved to find better feeding near the coast. The small lochs still had thick ice on them. | |||
