Knights Templar - Caithness
16 November 2002 The ceremony began at midday with a welcome to all from the Officer Commanding, Chev. Ian Sinclair KOTpl. and Preceptor, he thanked all present for travelling up to the Far North in such bad weather, some having travelled 700 miles, he also thanked all who had made the dream come true, Jason Sinclair-Fowler from the USA, who had spent 10 days cleaning down the walls and then repainting them, Ashley Cowie for providing the labour force to clean and paint the roof and its beams, Major Ron Sinclair for providing the glass blocks for the windows, Quinton Derek from Australia for making the Preceptory door, and Graham & Jenny Grant for their very kind donation in paying for the old stonework removal. The sword was presented by Chev. Euan Macpherson KGOTpl. and Bailli of the South. Bailli of the North, Chev. Jenny Grant KGOTpl, acted as Cleric, and delivered the readings, all mantled Knights then made their individual Salutations at the Knights Altar, the ceremony continued with the blessing of the swords. The Preceptor then delivered a speech to the conclave explaining what the Study Centre and Niven Sinclair library could offer in the way of historic research and education, and he expressed his wish that as much use should be made of the facilities as possible. The Preceptory was then closed and the Grand Council meeting was held in the Clan Sinclair Study Centre. |
