Handy Person Caithness
Providing practical help with small tasks around the house - for older or
disabled people across Caithness.
WHAT IS THE HANDYPERSON SCHEME?
It is a service provided in partnership with
Caithness Community Care Forum and
Pentland Housing Association. It is currently funded by
Communities Scotland and Caithness Community Care forum with applications
pending for further funding.
WHAT CAN WE DO FOR YOU?
We can provide practical help with small tasks around the home which may
be difficult for yu if you are old, or have a disability. If we cannot
help you ourselves, we will give you helpful advice on using tradesmen, or
refer you to the local Care & Repair Scheme.
We can also offer information on
energy efficiency send on your housing options, should your needs change
in the future. We will put you in touch with whichever agency can help.
HOW YOU APPLY
Simply contact the Handy person at our office or ask someone to contact us
on your behalf. The service is available to anyone living in Caithness
over the age of 60 or who has a disability regardless of whether they rent
or won their home. If you are not sure whether we can help, please contact
us for advice.
EXAMPLES OF TASKS
Fit battery operated smake alarms
Fit Hand rails, shelves etc
Clear pathways around the house (not gardening)
Fit curtain rails and hang curtains
Hang pictures
Move furniture within the house
Replace tap washers
Unblock sinks
Replace light bulbs and plugs
Change fuses
Clean guttering
Re-putty windows
Repair/replace locks, handles etc.

Painting
Decorating
Gardening
Roofwork
Window cleaning
HOW MUCH DO WE CHARGE?
No charge will be made for the Handyperson's time or travel expenses as
these costs are covered by the scheme. If nay materials need to be
provided to carry out the work, the cost of these will be recharged in
full to you,but you can provide these yourself if you prefer. |
