High Schools 50th Anniversary This year Thurso High School marks its 50th Anniversary with a weekend of celebrations in November. At 1.30pm on Friday 7th November 2008 the school will be opening its doors to past pupils, teachers, and indeed anyone who may have attended, or have an interest in the school's history. Visitors will be given a guided tour of the school. Please join us to see the school in 2008 as a living, thriving, forward looking community. On the evening of Saturday 8th November 2008 a Gala Dinner Dance in the school hall is planned. There will be ample opportunity provided on both occasions to reminisce and browse through memorabilia reflecting the schools varied and vital role in all aspects of local life since 1958. The Gala Dinner Dance will involve a buffet dinner, a speech by John Thurso, entertainment by pupils and a dance to Whisky to round off the evening. Tickets priced 20.00 are on sale at Thurso High School or from McBeaths, Jewellers, Thurso. If you live outwith Thurso, please contact Jean Alexander at the school either, by telephone 01847 896679 or e-mail [email protected] . Tickets are limited to 250 so please book your ticket by Saturday 1st November to avoid disappointment. To mark the occasion of the 50th Anniversary it was decided to enhance the school hall as a lasting memento. The High School Hall is frequently used not only by the school pupils but also by the community at large for a very wide range of activities. We, therefore, propose to enhance this important local facility and make it more attractive for all users by purchasing new curtains for the stage and the auditorium to match the newly acquired blue chairs. To this end we are asking the local community to contribute towards the cost of this venture. A list of all donors will be displayed in the Hall on completion of the project. |
